What’s coming up?
Here are some rough plans for the future:
Next week, single player survival mode updates, primarely working on crafting.
Once all the basic components of survival are working in singleplayer, I change the networking code to a much better base (by Riven on javagaming.org) and rewrite the protocol to be more future-proof and less easy to hack. This mostly means movement verification on the server, and possibly stuff like block locking for creative mode.
Then survival mode goes multiplayer, and the game goes into Beta.
After that, I merge the two clients into one so the new features appear in Creative mode as well. Then I do finite water, somehow, while people beta test survival and gather up some feedback.
Then it’s polishing time, adding new mobs, new block types, new items for survival mode.
